Recorded in Brooklyn, NY with veteran New York jazz musicians, Bassist/Composer/Bandleader Whitney Moulton's CD represents her life in New York City. Whitney's versatility shines throughout the entire CD. Listen to her effortlessly anchor a variety of grooves from easy swing to up-tempo swing, and funky groves to a 10/8 lope. Equally comfortable soloing pizzicato or arco, Moulton's melodic solos are something to appreciate. She captures the mood and spirit of the tune without succumbing to cliché. You'll hear Moulton's original tunes incorporate the history of jazz composition. This CD includes tunes in the styles of straight ahead jazz, bebop, modial jazz, post-bop, and contemporary jazz. Within four years of moving to New York City, Whitney has played and toured with a variety of jazz artists including Sarah McLawler, Carol Sudhalter, Linda Presgrave, Emme Kemp, many Count Basie Orchestra Alumni and Marion Cowlings. In addition to these artists, Moulton also performed in major venues in New York: historic Minton's Playhouse, Birdland, Saint Peter's Church Jazz Vespers, Lester Young Memorial Celebration, Jazz Mobile, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to name a few.
