Jones: Scotland Through the (St)ages: 84 Variations on One Folk Song for Double Bass by Dr. Kate Jones

An innovative exercise book, illustrated with instructive photos, for beginning bassists. Variations are grouped into three stages: Developing Tone, Developing the Left Hand, and Developing the Right Hand. Each variation is followed by suggestions for pieces that include the same or similar techniques. The repertoire suggestions are listed in the appendix by level (either graded levels of the UIL Prescribed Music List, or ASTA’s Certificate Advancement Program.) All 84 variations on “Scotland’s Burning” are included as one continuous piece at the end of the book.
