Product Description

Welcome to the musical world of The American String Project.

The Project's mission is four-fold:
-To bring together string virtuosi from around the world to present a series of world class performances for one week each year. Our members are soloists, concertmasters, teachers or chamber music artists who join egalitarian effort with enthusiasm and a spirit of creative energy.
-To perform works garnered primarily from chamber music repertoire and arranged especially for our fifteen member ensemble. These arrangements imbue the original quartet or quintet with the rich depth and instrumentation of a string symphony. In this respect the String Project offers audiences a concert experience that is unique in the world.
-To allow our distinguished players the freedom to make collaborative artistic decisions. Because we rehearse and perform without a conductor, our interpretation of a composer's vision arises purely from the musician's perspective. Each work is assigned a "leader" or concertmaster, who helps shape the sound and concept of the work.
-To involve our dedicated audience in the fostering and production of these efforts, and provide intimate opportunities to build community and friendship with our musicians. To our most steadfast supporters, our board of directors, we musicians offer our unending gratitude. Without the guidance, support and wisdom of our board, The American String Project could not exist.
