Joel Quarrington: Brothers in Brahms
This recording is dedicated to three composers who were friends, colleagues and contemporaries: Johannes Brahms, Robert Fuchs and Robert Schumann. You’ll hear Joel’s self-avowed favorite sonata, Brahms’ Violin Sonata No. 1 op. 78, transcribed by Joel. Also, Double Bass Sonata op. 97 by Fuchs, comprised of three fast movements plus the Andante from Fuchs’ “Three Pieces for Contrabass and Piano op. 96, included by Joel as a contrasting third movement. And Joel’s transcription of Robert Schumann’s “Adagio and Allegro,” originally for French horn. All proceeds from sales of this CD have been donated to the ISB by Joel Quarrington.
