Frank Proto: Fantasy for Double Bass and Orchestra
Product Description
Fantasy for Double Bass and Orchestra was commissioned by the Houston Symphony Orchestra especially for Francois Rabbath. Written in 1983, the first performances of the work were by Rabbath with the Houston Symphony, which was conducted by Sergiu Comissiona on October 8th and 9th.
This piece consists of two movements, both containing several chances for improvisation on the part of the soloist. This makes the performer more of a participant in the composing of the piece and allows them to make it their own.
