Alan Hovhaness (1911-2000) was one of the most prolific composers of the 20th century, with some 500 catalogued works.
Rediscovered by the ISB and published for the first time in 2020, Dawn on Mountain Lake was composed and dedicated to Rufus Reid in 1968. This publication includes two copies of the bass and piano score, and photos of the original manuscript. The ISB is grateful to Rufus Reid and C.F. Peters, publisher of the music of Alan Hovhaness, for the opportunity to make this piece available to the worldwide double bass community after more than 50 years since its creation. All proceeds from sales benefit the International Society of Bassists.
